1. 10 Feet Vision Test

Chart Design

• Snellen Chart: Rows of letters or symbols that decrease in size.
• Tumbling E Chart: Features the letter "E" in different orientations.
• Landolt C Chart: Rings with breaks in various positions to test acuity.

Distance

The test is conducted at a distance of 10 feet from the chart.

Procedure

• Cover One Eye: The patient covers one eye.
• Read Aloud: Read the letters starting from the largest to the smallest.
• Record the Smallest Line: Note the smallest line that the patient can read accurately.

Results

Results are recorded in fraction (e.g., 20/20) or decimal (e.g., 0.8) forms.

2. Near Vision Card

Chart Design

• Text Layout: Paragraphs of text, largest at the top, smallest at the bottom.
• Text Sizes: "N" stands for near vision (e.g., N6 for normal, N5 for better vision).

Procedure

• Hold Chart: The chart is held at 14-16 inches from the eyes.
• Read Text: Read from largest to smallest, noting the smallest size that can be read.

3. Near Vision Test (Automated)

Procedure

• Setup: The test is performed using a fully automated machine.
• Testing: The patient reads symbols or letters displayed by the machine.
• Measurement: The machine records how clearly symbols or letters are seen.

Purpose

This test identifies whether corrective lenses are needed for near tasks like reading.

4. Near Vision Cards Inverted

• Flip the Card: Turn the card to correct the orientation.
• Use a Mirror: Reflect the card's image in a mirror to read it.
